My favorite gift was a portable RCA record player that I received the Christmas I was in 9th grade. I felt as I had entered the grown up world. That tiny record player connected me to the teen idols of the day, particularly the Beatles and Herman's Hermits. I was convinced I would somehow magically meet Peter Noone, we would get married, and live happily ever after. I wonder if our children and grandchildren will look back with such fondness when they live in such a time of abundance. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
