Everyone in this household has been hankering for a “ski” boat for sometime now. This past week started with a discovery of a boat ad on Craig’s List – which looked to be in good shape, and a very reasonable price, located on a lake about an hour or so from here. Now, mind you, we have another motor boat sitting in our yard – a lobstah boat if you will, which somehow sunk last year in the harbor. The motor is shot, so the ongoing debate has been whether to drop it into the earth and create a large planter or maybe even a hot tub, or try to get it running again.
Well, as soon as this ad was spotted this week, the momentum started building. And before I knew it, we had another boat sitting in our driveway. I must admit when the ad was first discovered, I was sure the boat would be sold before we could get up to take a look, so I didn’t weigh in at all – and frankly, didn’t pay much attention. My only rebuttal during this whole process was – “with college three years away – don’t you think we should be putting extra savings in our college fund?” My husband’s response – “it’s important to create experiences – this will be great.”
Well, hard to argue about that. So today, when we were out on the Sound, with big smiles across all four of our children’s faces, I had to concur. As I yelled out to my daughter about what I should blog about, she replied: ”Men. They make up their mind about something and go out and buy it the next day.”
I guess she’s right.
